William George Rogers,
the son of George and ? Rogers, was born in the parish
of Eglish, County Armagh, about 1852. It was there that
he married Susan Cook.
After their arrival in Queensland, William George and
Susan became the parents of six daughters: Clara Rose
(b. 14 November 1877; m. Joseph Mudford Gomersall 3 June
1903; d. 14 January 1920), Jane Louise (b. 23 July 1880;
d. 19 December 1939), Beatrice (b. 11 April 1883; m.
Ernest Fisher 10 April 1920), Maude (b. 19 June 1885; d.
17 September 1886), Eva May (b. 7 February 1890; m.
William Musgrave Simpson 16 October 1915) and Florence
Mabel (b. 7 February 1890). One of these children, Jane
Louise, is buried in God’s Acre. See the entry under
Galvin.
William George Rogers (a farmer), died in the Fellnaw
Private Hospital, Annerley, at the age of 87 years on 18
September 1939. When he was laid to rest in the Cooper’s
Plains Cemetery on the following afternoon the gentlemen
who exercised official roles were: John W Hislop
(undertaker), the Reverend James Massingberd Teale of
the Church of England, and J Dibble and G Hughson
(witnesses).
Susan Rogers died at her residence in Albermarle Street,
Yeerongpilly, aged 95, on 29 September 1950. She was
privately cremated.
