Plots in the Cooper’s Plains Cemetery were allocated to
the Trevanion family but were never used. Their link
with God’s Acre is through the Mullens.
Sophia Mullen,
the daughter of Charles and Sarah Louisa (née Curran)
Mullen, married John Trevanion on 10 May 1899.
Their children were: Cecil John (b. 19 February 1900; m.
Ivy Sylvia Blakeley 1921, Murwillumbah; bur. 25 June
1966), Sophie (b. 15 March m. William George Marsh 29
November 1923) and Enid (b. 12 August 1909; m. James
Angus Bell 22 January 1930).
A John Trevanion died on 11 June 1935 and was buried in
the Toowong Cemetery (18 120 8). His funeral notice
states that he was a member of the 4th
Battalion AIF. Whether or not he was the late husband of
Sophia, it is certain that Sophia Trevanion (née Mullen)
married Joseph Redfern, the son of Thomas and Jane (née
Coleman) Redfern, on 30 March 1937. Sophia and Joseph,
who lived for some years in Toogoolawah before moving to
Moorooka, died on 17 February 1953 and 31 May 1954
respectively.
